Wan Gang Inspects GAC MOTOR’s New Energy Models at Beijing Auto Show and Praises R & D Results of Proprietary Technology

A delegation led by Wan Gang, Vice-chairman of the CPPCC and Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, visited 2016 Beijing New Energy Vehicle Exhibition on the morning of April 26.

At GAC Group's GAC MOTOR booth, Zhang Qingsong, Deputy General Manager of GAC Group, Huang Xiangdong, President of Automotive Engineering Institute of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Wu Jian, Executive Vice-President of the Institute, gave a detailed introduction to 3 new energy models and self-developed brand-new electromechanical coupling system as well as GAC MOTOR's first-ever strategic layout for new energy vehicles. The delegation led by Wan Gang thought highly of GAC MOTOR's R & D results of proprietary new energy technologies.

During the visit, Wan Gang earnestly heard technical introductions on GAC MOTOR's self-developed new energy models (e.g. EV Coupe, GS4 EV and GA3S PHEV) to be launched and G-MC electromechanical coupling system, etc. and spoke highly of these R & D results.

Meanwhile, he praised that EV Coupe was of novel and unique crossover style design, which could lead the popularization of new energy models. And then he sat and operated the car with great interest.

As for GAC MOTOR's G-MC electromechanical coupling system with proprietary intellectual property rights, Wan Gang indicated that Chinese automakers must master such key technologies as new energy vehicle's electromechanical coupling, and GAC MOTOR set a good example in this regard.

Wan Gang said the development of new energy vehicles should not be limited to single technical route, and plug-in hybrid models like GA3S PHEV should be highly recommend for serving as the first new energy vehicle of Chinese families.

In addition, Wan Gang also gave thumbs-up to the car's Atkinson cycle engine and G-MC power assembly, specially used for GAC MOTOR's new energy vehicles, for their excellent performance. Also, he said engine manufacturers should learn from GAC MOTOR and focus on how to apply new internal combustion engine technologies to new energy vehicles and thus lengthen service life of internal combustion engine.

At last, Wan Gang learned all information of GS4 EV and asked about market prospect of the said three models. Learning that these models were equivalent to regular ones in price because of government subsidies, he was quite happy and hoped that the three models could achieve satisfying sales performance in the market.
